A deadly shooting on Kentucky State University’s campus has left one person dead and another in critical condition. The incident prompted an immediate lockdown of the campus as police secured the scene and took a suspect into custody.
Update, Dec. 9, 4:50 p.m.: Frankfort Police report that the shooter is in custody and the campus remains under lockdown while investigations continue.
Update, Dec. 9, 3:55 p.m.: Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the shooting occurred on KSU’s campus and stated that injuries had been reported.
Original report: Kentucky State University placed its campus on lockdown after police apprehended an “active aggressor” on Tuesday afternoon. Frankfort Police say they were dispatched to the campus shortly after 3:30 p.m. In collaboration with KSU Campus Police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, authorities secured the area and arrested the suspect.
