Four arrests made as police disrupt three cannabis cultivation operations in Doncaster
In a significant operation, South Yorkshire Police have arrested four individuals and seized an estimated £300,000 worth of drugs following raids on three separate properties in Doncaster. The properties, located in Wheatley, Hyde Park, and Cantley, were found to house sophisticated cannabis cultivation setups.
The police force revealed that three men and one woman were detained on suspicion of drug-related offenses. Additionally, the men were also suspected of immigration violations. Sergeant Steve Roberts emphasized the dangers posed by these operations, stating that they represent a 'huge risk to the safety of innocent people in our local communities.'
Roberts further explained that the electricity bypasses used to provide the necessary light and warmth for cannabis growth pose a significant fire hazard to nearby properties. After the intervention, the police have taken steps to ensure the safety of the surrounding areas, eliminating the risk to neighbors.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal drug cultivation and the associated risks to public safety.
